Reduced dispersibility of flushable wet wipes after wet storage

چکیده

Abstract Scientific publications and newsfeeds recently focused on flushable wet wipes their role in sewage system blockages. It is stated that although products are marked as flushable, they do not disintegrate after being disposed of via the toilet. In this work it shown wetlaid hydroentangled lose initially good dispersive properties during storage condition. As a consequence, we suggesting to add tests defined times when assessing flushability wipes. Loss dispersibility found for both, from industrial pilot production produced laboratory facilities. We quite surprising wipes’ deteriorating exactly same liquid dispersed in, i.e. water. This probably why effect has been investigated earlier. demonstrated these linked used type short cellulosic fibres — only containing unbleached softwood pulp fibre component were preserving storage. Possible mechanisms might be responsible discussed, e.g. long term fiber swelling causing tightening network, or surface interdiffusion.

Six children with allergic contact dermatitis to methylisothiazolinone in wet wipes (baby wipes).

Methylchloroisothiazolinone/methylisothiazolinone (MCI/MI) is a combination preservative used in personal care and household products and is a common cause of allergic contact dermatitis (ACD). Recently, MI alone, without MCI, has been increasingly used in consumer products in attempts to minimize allergic reactions. Wet wipes are extensively tested and traditionally believed to be innocuous. M...

Polyhexamethylene biguanide is a relevant sensitizer in wet wipes.

Polyhexamethylene biguanide (PHMB; CAS no. 2875743-3) is a preservative used as a biocide in industrial products (e.g. swimming pool disinfectants), medical devices (e.g. wound cleansers), contact lens solutions, and cosmetics such as wet wipes, deodorants, and facial cleansers. It is considered to be a rare contact allergen, with a sensitization rate of ∼0.5% in an unselected population (1, 2)...

Do baby wet wipes change periurethral aerobic flora?

There is massive enteric bacterial colonization in the periurethral region during infancy. Fecal soiling is considered to be responsible for this colonization. We hypothesized that baby wet wipes containing chemical cleansing compounds, which are used for the cleaning of babies after diaper soiling, could be a contributing factor in this colonization. Thus, the effect on periurethral flora of t...

Allergic contact dermatitis caused by methylisothiazolinone from different sources, including 'mislabelled' household wet wipes.

A 39-year-old non-atopic nurse was referred to our contact allergy unit in November 2012 because of eczematous skin lesions on the arms, neck and trunk of 7-month duration. Initially, the diagnosis of pityriasis rosea of Gibert had been suspected, but a biopsy of a lesion on the trunk had shown a spongiotic dermatitis with eosinophils, compatible with eczema. Application of a cream containing h...

Wettability Alteration of Oil- Wet and Water-Wet of Iranian Heavy Oil Reservoir by CuO Nanoparticles

The petroleum industry requires the best materials to reverse the rock wettability to water-wet state which give significantly improved oil recovery.Nanoparticles are suggested as enhanced oil recovery potential agents to decrease viscosity and alter the wettability of reservoir towards more water-wet. This study provides new insights into CuO nanoparticles effects on wett...
